Bio

I knew I wanted to have a career as a photographer soon after I received my first 35mm film camera from my grandfather when I was in high school. I’m truly fortunate to have always made my living from photography. With a BS in Journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park, I began my career as a photojournalist working for a small suburban newspaper chain in the Washington DC area. After several years of being behind the camera, I made the switch to management when I was hired as a photo editor at the Washington Post. I worked at the Post for 17 years and left in 2010 to grow the freelance photography business I started in 2007.

Much of my work today is related to the food scene in the DC area. I love the variety of work I do, documenting local food stories and dining reviews for publications and helping food-centered businesses with their rebranding needs. Website build outs, new restaurant pre-opening photos and social media content have become a specialty.

In addition to my food work, I also photograph corporate events, conferences, business portraits and family sessions.
